So sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been posting on Facebook so much that I have neglected the blog! We are still having a few growing pains and server issues with the website. We re hard at work to get the slow speed and other hitches resolved as soon as possible. You all have been so great about it all! On National Scrapbook Day (May 3) we will be have a fun and easy class featuring Graphic 45 Book Boxes and several current G45 paper collections. Graphic 45 has generously provided several giveaways for me to pass on to you…they are always so generous! Here are some photos of the project. It will be available as a free download here on the blog by next Friday. Kits are shipping in time to arrive before NSD. I hope you can join us at our usual Saturday class time of 9 am PDT.
I have also put up the Transportation Series for Reservations. This series is inspired by the men in my life. I don’t have samples to show yet, but the paper is only available in limited quantities so I needed to determine the interest level in these projects. This series is very special and personal to me…I can guarantee it will be some of my best work. The techniques we will use include a combo of 3D construction and my Paper Applique ™. First, in June, we will be creating a airplane themed project with Prima Cartographer in tribute to my late father. He was a pilot who loved to be in the air. My husband has worked at Boeing for over 30 years, so that is another connection to Flight. Second, in July, we will hit the rails with a steampunk inspired train engine project. Both of my grandfathers were involved int he railroad industry in Chicago…it is part of my heritage. For this project, we will be using Prima Time Traveler’s Memories. Lastly, in August we will hit the water with a classic yacht inspired project. My brother and I were raised on the water. My brother went on to become an amazing sailboat racer. I spent many hours as crew on his race boat….some of my fondest memories….this one is for my big brother, Mark. I love the colors of the paper we will be using: Prima Seashore. I plan to work on the samples as soon as I finish up the Spring Fairy House sample…. I am so excited about all of the great projects we have in store for the summer! I am excited that you are joining me on the incredible summer journey! Laura
I wish I could do this with you! I have no where to get the G45 stuff… I soooo wish they would make it more accessible in Canada… *sigh*
The NSD projects looks like fun. Sadly I won’t be able to join in as I think it will be a great time. I will be at my LSS for a three day event. Wishing you a fun, creative and relaxing time. Laura the transportation series sounds amazing. My late father was also a pilot so I’m excited to see the airplane themed project. Take care. You are doing great.
Can’t wait for this project. Looks really fun. thanks as always for sharing. Theresa aka Mountain Dreamer
This new project sounds great Laura!! And thanks for sharing the patter with us! I hope it will include the instructions to build one of those gorgeous G45 boxes from scratch. That would be great for all those around the world who cannot easily buy G45 accessories. Thanks! đ
I’ll be there for NSD… as always, real quiet in the background but taking in every word. The project is beautiful. Got my Pet Shoppe kit and my Sport Shoppe kit in the last few days and now can’t decide which one to do first! My Dress Shoppe and Tea Shoppe are proudly sitting side by side on the library table in the dining room and they can’t decide which shoppe they want to join them first!!!
Thanks for everything Laura!
Jeanine
Everything you design is fantastic! Looking forward to the Transportation Series. It’s going to be one heck of a summer!
I can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve on this series. Sounds interesting, but I just can’t imagine it in my head. I think this is going to be a very special series for me also, Laura. My father worked as a car inspector for the Southern Pacific for 36 years, so anything to do with trains brings home alot of memories. My husband and I worked on aircraft instrumentation for years, so airplanes are very special to the two of us. Our family has always owned ski boats and love the water, so the last of the series my be fun to have as well. Really looking forward to this series.
I love the NSD project and think it will make wonderful Mother’s Day gifts. I only wish I was able to get the blue and cream kit, but by the time I saw the project they were already sold out. I was however able to find everything I needed except the bird and birdnest. I will keep looking. Thanks for all the great projects – they just keep getting better and better!!!!!!!! Your work amazes me.
Marcie
Looks like a fun project! Thanks to you and Graphic 45 for your generosity.
