A couple of weeks ago I was making a “To-Do” list. I am usually moving at mach 10 with my hair on fire and making lists helps to keep all the balls in the air. I must have been in a philosophical mood that day because instead of making a “To Do” list, I made a “To Be” list. I will blog more about my list at a later time , but one of the things on that list was to be a more giving person. I have an incredible husband, two wonderful children and a beautiful home. I’ve had my professional career and am now enjoying running a creative business from home that allows me to be home with my kids, volunteer at their schools, lead a Girl Scout troop and just be there for them the way parents were for me.
I have been blessed, therefore I actively look for ways to give back to my family, my friends and to my community. I discovered mini scrapbook albums and the internet community surrounding it this past July. I have been overwhelmed and touched by the positive and supportive response to my work!! It is so appreciated. I have often thought of ways to channel all that positive energy generated by such creative women into a project that “gives back” and I think I have an idea to run by you all.
I have a close friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She recently completed chemo and starts radiation treatment next week. (We joke with her that she gets to glow in the dark for Halloween!) I have been wanting to do something to honor her positive outlook and courage. The recent challenge put on by the Craft Craving Chicas gave me an idea! I am working out the details to host an online fundraiser to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I thought organizing a mini scrap book challenge and silent auction would be fun and appropriate! I will be putting together 16 kits (at no charge to the participant) to be sent out to interested mini scrappers to make a mini album. Each participant will create an album that will be put into a silent action on my blog in late October/early November. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation through a website I am setting up associated with their Passionatly Pink for a Cure Program. I will be putting up more details tomorrow and hope to get the kits into the mail on Tuesday. Leave me a comment or email me at quiltedbaglady@aol.com if you might be interested in participating. It’s Louise from The Scrap Beach. This is a beautiful idea. Having two women close to me suffering from breast cancer and My Father beating bowel cancer, I would just be honored to be involved. I am an international sister so would like to see what you suggest on tomarrow’s update. I can suggest me making a mini album from my own supplies if you wish and mail out to whoever wins the album at my own expense. Anything to help this fantastic cause and your thoughtfulness.

I’m not sure, but I believe if you contact your local chapter of the Komen foundation they would be able to link your auction to their web-site. Also I don’t know where you shop, ie. 2P’s, BlueMoon, scrapbook.com, peachycheap, etc. but, any of those place that all of us mini-album junkies frequent should be able to link up to advertise the actual auction. (Just FYI)
I would be honored to donate a mini-album kit for a baby “girl” mini, to be mailed to a winner of blog candy drawn by your daughter for people that are willing to promote your auction on their blog. I am completely stupid when it comes to anything computer related, I too am new to this world of internet living, but if someone would volunteer to make a “blinkie” to share to tie back to your auction site that would be helpful to promote the upcoming auction. (another fyi)

Hi…..I am new and having a time trying to find out how this auctions works ie..how to bid… or even see the mini albums that are being auction….or if I’m wrong maybe were bidding on any of them or do we pick one..i mean just how does this work
