Yep, that’s right, no more plugged glue bottles! I have stumbled upon the perfect solution to dried out, plugged up glue bottle tips. While looking for something completely different, I happened upon silicone tops for adhesive bottles and mineral spirits on a woodworking site. These were far too large for glue bottles but the concept was exciting. After a little experimentation I found the silicon baby bottle nipples worked perfectly. You don’t need to poke pins or run them under hot water! All you need is some silicone baby bottle nipples and some 1/2″ foam tape and you are good to go. No more hoarding the old style Scotch Quick Dry lid style…you can throw them away!
Here’s a video of what you need to do!
Happy crafting!
Laura

Thank you Laura for the wonderful solution. I just picked up my nipples today and can hardly wait to try out your idea. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Your video is very frustrating in that you are very vague as to which nipples to buy. Why didn’t you show a closeup of exactly what nipples you are using? As I can no longer post on YouTube because of Google+ hegemony , I want to say I agree with Ms Jordan that manufacturers should have addressed this problem AGES ago. And why hasn’t CHA addressed the myriad problems with shoddy products offered by the paper crafting industry or unavailability of popular products featured on You Tube videos, like stamping up/EK’s rounded tab punch that’s now scalped for up to $150 on eBay?
I can understand your frustration with manufacturer’s….I have it as well. Many of us have asked MANY times for many years regarding the glue issue. I came up with a solution myself. Telling me that I shouldn’t share it but rather pass the info along to manufacturer’s who will ignore it seems a bit unfair. I’m not making a dime off of this idea…I am sharing it freely. Should manufacturer’s address this themselves, of course, but they don’t.
In regards to the nipples, there are MANY manufacturers who make nipples that will work. I stated the sizing of the ones I used as well as the diameter of the nipple opening. Sizing can vary. I also have an international following, sizing may be different in other countries, even mores than the variations here in the US.
Thank you Laura! This problem has affected many of us….I want to say all of us, but who knows. I had to laugh when I seen all your bottles of glue. Although I buy a few diffrent types of glue for diffrent tasks….I don’t buy that many! I looked over at my glue pile and I had as many or more….that’s when I realized that this little solution of yours should save me money this year….I will post back after I give this a shot! Thank you again for such creativity…..one question…..tell us, how in the world, did you even think, to stick a nipple on top of a glue bottle? I can see that through your crafting experience your process to come up with the mounting tape to help with sealing the nipple, but for the life of me, I would love to know what went off in your mind to even think of the nipple! You should get an award for this! Thank you!
Very clever – thank you for sharing this tip! I am looking forward to trying this out and saying goodbye to the pin method. 🙂 For those readers/viewers who are unable to listen to your video due to hearing loss, what size did you recommend? Thank you in advance.
Laura said 0-3 months pure silicon nipples. They are approx 3/4″ across at the opening. Two layers of 1/2″ foam tape wrapped around bottle threads, then stretch nipple over top.
Followed your instructions exactly and they work perfectly and are so easy to use. Thank you so very much for this ‘cure’. Love it.
Just came across your ideas for baby bottle nipples for the glue bottles. Awesome! I too have many different bottles and have experienced the same frustration since I use a lot of the Quick Dry Adhesive. Going out right now to get the supplies! Thanks so much!!!!
Two years later and I came across your video on youtube. I’m so frustrated with my glue tops. Is this still a good solution for you? Thank you for sharing.
