The New Year’s Eve Scrap Bash 2013/14 is starting a 8 pm Pacific Standard Time on my Ustream Channel! ….(that is one hour later than my usual Friday night time)
Since this will be our 4th year doing the show we have learned a few things.
First, we recommend that you get logged in early. Ustream can be a bit crazy during the first hour but it generally settles down after that…..once the ball drops in NYC the traffic on Ustream falls off and Ustream settles down.
Next, many of you will experience Ustream difficulties….trouble logging in , blue circles, and getting booted. If any of theses happen we recommend that you don’t give up, try again after midnight on the east coast. If all else fails, the show will be recorded. I won’t be giving out any prizes during the first hour, so you can just sit back and relax.
Lastly, we average over 3000+ people dropping in to the show during the duration. As a result, we have to have the chat in slo-mo. That means that you will only be able to make a comment once every minute. I do ask that you retain from complaints about Ustream….everyone will be having some sort of difficulties. Let’s keep the chat upbeat and optimistic as we ring in the new year across the USA.
I will be announcing price winners in blocks after the first hour. I will post a list of the winners sometime on January 1. You do not have to be present to win as the time zones vary so much around the world and not everyone can be there in person. I have had several manufacturer’s donate prizes but most are gifts from me to Thank You all for your support during the year….my small way of giving back. Here are a few of the give-aways:

Thank You Laura … You have become my NYE ritual along with 3 of my cats … all snuggled on the sofa in front of the 42″ flat panel TV hooked to a laptop.
Well until the bombs started to drop in your area … and the 26 lb Maine-coon leaped into the air and scampered under the hassock … how this giant cat can fit under a 4 inch tall space is amazing to me … it is now 12:43 am and he is still under there. Apparently he figures it is not yet safe to venture out or perhaps it is now his new napping space.
The 9 lb pixie bob (she does not like him much) hopes he is stuck there FOREVER.
The indoor/outdoor tomcat immediately insisted on going OUT to check and see if by chance there was a TERRORIST on OUR PROPERTY.
I guess he has done his rounds and all is safe … he now wants back in 🙂
CATS they are the silent watch dogs you know … they watch silent while you are being robbed. The Doberman at least barks if a opossum or strange cat walks on the back yard fence.

Somehow during all of that excitement I missed the drawing part of the show … lol … napping intermittently with the cats perhaps?

Well Sheryl and I made it through our second scrap bash, all the way to the end! We both took naps during the day so we could go as long as we could. We got our typewriter body built, now just have to paper and add the details. It took me most of the morning but I had everything cut out and ready for us to go. I added two reinforcement strips of paper behind the “striker keys” to support the glue. Felt more comfortable knowing the rosette shouldn’t be able to “pop off”. How in the world would you ever get it back in place if it did?! We had a good time. And Sheryl’s husband Phil got to watch a recorded football game so he was happy too. Thanks so much Laura for sharing another magical night with us. Just love your big heart. Big hugs to you and your family and many wishes for a star bright 2014.
